Compact, linkable storage for your Dillon 550 toolheads

These stands sit on rubber feet on a shelf or the back of your bench, and they screw together side by side into one solid stand that's easy to rearrange. Each one holds everything for one caliber and adds about 3.25 in to a row, so 11 linked stands fit in about 3 ft.

  • Holds: One toolhead with dies installed, plus its shellplate and all three locator pins
  • Fits: Dillon RL550 and BL550 toolheads, every 550 shellplate and every locator pin size
  • Size: 3.5 in wide, 4.4 in deep and 1.65 in tall; each stand adds about 3.25 in to a row
  • Linking: Side by side, all facing the same way, with two M3 screws per joint
  • Material: US-made PCTG, a tough engineering polymer
  • Color: Black
  • Mounting: Freestanding on rubber feet, or screwed down with #6 wood screws
  • Assembly: None. To link stands, you'll need a 2.5 mm Allen wrench (not included)
  • Made in: Georgia, USA
  • Ships: Within 3 business days, free on orders of $50 or more

A whole caliber in one spot: The toolhead drops in with its dies installed and adjusted, and the powder funnel stays in the powder die. The shellplate stands in a cradle up front. The locator pins sit on their own pegs with just enough clearance that even Dillon's smallest pins pull right out. With the shellplate and pins in plain view, it's easy to tell calibers apart at a glance.

Links into one solid stand: Each stand ships with two M3 screws parked in brass inserts on its side. To join two stands, lift the toolhead out of one. Take the two parked screws out of the other stand, then drive them from inside the empty stand, through its wall and back into the inserts they came from. The shellplate and locator pins can stay put. A row can run as long as your shelf, and the stand on the end keeps its screws parked so they never get lost.

Grows and moves with your setup: Add a stand with each new caliber conversion, pull one when you sell a caliber, and move the whole row when you rearrange or upgrade your bench. Nothing is screwed down unless you want it to be. A linked row moves as one piece, and you can lift up to six loaded stands at once. For longer rows, empty the stands or split the row first. Empty rows of any length lift just fine.

Stable on its own, steadier in a row: The stand isn't weighted, but it stays put empty or loaded, and linked stands are far steadier still. A single stand also holds a toolhead with a powder measure mounted, but it can tip over if you bump the tall hopper. Link it to a neighbor or screw it down through the two mounting tabs. Neighboring stands can both hold toolheads with powder measures.

Room for your dies: Any setup that fits your 550 should fit the stand too. There's about 2-1/4 in from the bottom of the lock rings to the surface the stand sits on, and the open floor gives die bodies room to hang down. Die brand doesn't matter, since the dies only need to fit the toolhead.

Tested with: Dillon's own RL550 toolheads in natural, blue and black. The gold finish should fit too, since it's the same toolhead.

Built to take abuse: PCTG was chosen for its toughness. It's impact resistant and rigid enough to carry a toolhead full of steel dies. It also resists most solvents and chemicals used around firearms. The linking screws thread into brass, not plastic, so you can rearrange as often as you like.

In the box: One fully assembled stand. The rubber feet, threaded inserts and two linking screws come installed, so there are no loose parts.

Built to keep running: Need a replacement part? Email us at mail@purpleprimer.us. If you'd rather source your own hardware, here's what we use:

  • Screws: M3 x 8 mm socket head cap screws (2)
  • Rubber pads: 3/8 in diameter x 1/8 in tall rubber bumpers (4), manufacturer part number BS34BL12X25RP

Fit Guarantee: The stand is built around Dillon's RL550 toolhead, so Dillon 550 toolheads drop right in. If it doesn't work with your toolhead, contact us. Send it back within 30 days of receiving it and we'll refund you. See our refund policy for details.
